MTM Health Joins Historic Grand Opening of Las Vegas Westside’s New Library
Recently, more than 2,000 community members, families, elected officials, and neighbors gathered to celebrate something the historic Westside had waited decades for: the grand opening of the brand-new West Las Vegas Library.
This state-of-the-art, double-sized facility is a modern media hub built to inspire creativity and opportunity in a community that has long been underserved. With an art gallery, podcast studio, outdoor event plaza, makerspace, business incubator, innovation labs, and more, the new library stands as a beacon of possibility and is a testament to the relentless advocacy of Westside mothers who refused to let another generation grow up without access to books and resources.
MTM Health was proud to be part of this milestone moment. Our Nevada Community Outreach team set up a pop-up resource table in partnership with the Nevada Homeless Alliance to meet people exactly where they were. While families explored the stunning new building, our team spent the day talking with attendees who rely on Medicaid about a benefit many had never heard of: gas mileage reimbursement (GMR) and free bus passes that can get them to doctor appointments, dialysis, and more.
For many low-income and homeless individuals who stopped by our table, it was the first time they learned transportation support even existed. With Medicaid representatives and state officials on-site as well, several attendees were able to start the Medicaid enrollment process that very day and leave with information on how to eliminate transportation as a barrier to their health care.
Beyond serving community members, the event gave us the chance to connect with local and state representatives, library staff, and community leaders—building and strengthening partnerships that will help us continue promoting health equity across Nevada.
MTM Health was honored to play a small part in welcoming this new chapter for the Westside by making sure every neighbor knows they don’t have to miss a medical appointment just because they can’t get there.
