Green Team Hosts Successful E-Waste Recycling Event
Despite a day filled with stormy weather, MTM Health’s Green Team didn’t let the rain dampen our commitment to sustainability. In April, team members at our corporate headquarters in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri came together for an e-waste recycling event in partnership with the Midwest Recycling Center (MRC). The event gave employees a chance to do a little “spring cleaning” while making a big impact: more than 700 pounds of electronic waste were collected and diverted from local landfills.
Electronic waste—or e-waste—includes items like old computers, printers, phones, and other outdated or broken electronics. These items often contain hazardous materials, including lead, cadmium, and beryllium. When improperly disposed of, these substances can leach into the air, soil, and water—especially during warmer months when heat causes materials to release toxic compounds. This contamination can have serious consequences for both human health and local ecosystems.
That’s why events like these are so important. The MRC’s approach to electronic recycling goes beyond just safe disposal. They follow the well-known mantra of environmental sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Whenever possible, MRC wipes and repurposes equipment for reuse—either as individual parts or whole working units. Items that can’t be reused are dismantled and separated into raw materials like steel, aluminum, plastic, and lead. These materials are then sent to EPA- and R2/RIOS-certified facilities to be melted or smelted down and recycled into new products.
At MTM Health, we recognize the importance of protecting our environment for future generations. Our Green Team initiatives are one of many ways we demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship—and we’re proud to see our employees supporting that mission.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success! Together, we’re making a difference—one recycled item at a time.
