Improving the mobility options available to older adults provides a wealth of benefits, from physical and mental to social and economic. Older adults often resist riding public transit due to lack of experience and confidence, perceived access barriers, and public transit stigmas. Travel training is an excellent resource for removing these perceptions and promoting safe, independent travel for older adults on bus and rail systems.
View the recording of this webinar to see what a panel of experts from MTM, Inc., Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA), and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) have to say about travel training seniors. These experts discussed trends and statistics relating to the growing demand for older adult travel training; unique strategies for working with older adults; important considerations to make when training older adults; and potential funding streams for your program. Through travel training, seniors receive the hands-on experience and guidance they need to travel independently and confidently while encouraging active participation in the local community.
