Strengthening Communities Through NEMT Education and Outreach
At MTM Health, community outreach is more than an initiative—it’s a core part of how we fulfill our mission to provide reliable transportation that connects people to care and removes community barriers. By actively engaging with local organizations and the individuals we serve, we break down barriers, build trust, and ensure that non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) becomes a foundation for better health outcomes.
Bringing Resources and Education to Southern Nevada
Recently, our Nevada Outreach team represented MTM Health at events in southern Nevada, focusing on access to care and support for vulnerable populations.
At the Molina Healthcare and Vegas Stronger healthcare resource event, the team distributed hygiene kits and essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Las Vegas area. Beyond meeting immediate needs, our Community Outreach staff engaged directly with community members to explain MTM Health’s Medicaid NEMT benefits in Nevada, including bus fund assistance available through their health plan. These conversations helped promote dignity and awareness, empowering people facing housing insecurity to access the services they need.
The team also participated in the first-ever Community Resource Fair hosted by the Empowerment Center of Southern Nevada. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about NEMT benefits in real time. Our team provided guidance on how to request transportation, utilize NEMT services, and access critical support such as hospital discharge rides—information many had not previously known. By removing confusion and logistical barriers, the team helped community members confidently navigate their transportation options and connect more easily to care.
Building Connections and Trust at the Kaiser Health Fair in Everett, Washington
Our team also recently joined the Kaiser Health Fair in Everett, Washington, alongside healthcare professionals, local organizations, and community members for a day dedicated to health, support, and connection.
Beyond the activities and giveaways, the fair provided a meaningful platform to highlight the real impact of NEMT. One attendee shared a powerful testimonial about a NEMT driver who helped de-escalate a frightening road rage incident during her ride. Living with extreme anxiety that often makes leaving home difficult, she described the driver’s calm professionalism and support as life-changing. The experience helped her feel safe and cared for, increasing her comfort with using MTM Health services. She and her husband expressed deep gratitude and encouraged us to share her story.
Transportation That Goes Beyond the Ride
Stories like these illustrate MTM Health’s approach to community outreach: meeting people where they are, listening actively, educating clearly, and delivering transportation with compassion and reliability. Whether distributing resources at fairs, partnering with local organizations, or training drivers to provide supportive care, we focus on building trust and removing barriers so that every member can access the healthcare they need with confidence.
