Who can get rides?

MTM will help set up rides for people in the Texas Medicaid and Children with Special Health Care Needs programs who do not have another way to get to visits with their Medicaid health-care providers.

To find out if you can get a ride, call MTM at 855-687-4786.

What kind of ride will MTM offer me?

MTM will ask you some questions about your health and how you handle basic tasks of your daily life. Click here to see how we decide what type of ride to offer, including:

  • To pay you back by the mile if you drive
  • Bus fare
  • A sedan, van, or taxi ride
  • A car or van that can carry a wheelchair or stretcher, if you need that kind of service

Can you set up rides for children going to a health-care visit without a parent?

Children 15 to 17 years old can ride without a parent, guardian, or attendant when MTM has a signed Parent Consent Form for those teens. Children 14 years old or younger must ride with a parent, guardian, or attendant at all times.  Teens who have chosen to live without parents or a guardian (emancipated teens) can ride without an adult.

What happens if I don’t know what time my appointment will be over and no ride has been set up for my trip back home?

Call the “Where’s My Ride?” phone number at 888-513-0706 and ask that someone come pick you up. We’ll send someone to pick you up in less than an hour.

Who should I call if I need help finding a Medicaid health-care provider or help setting up visits?

You should call Texas Health Steps at 1-877-847-8377.
