Meet Our Professional Travel Trainers and Evaluators
MTM knows that every customer we assess and travel train is different—that’s why we value staff with varied backgrounds in the medical field, disability services, and older adult services. Our On the Move team, inclusive of registered nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, is dedicated to providing a high quality experience for every customer.
On the Move staff must be experienced in training and working with cognitively impaired individuals, and are thoroughly trained using the standards and recognized methodologies of national organizations such as:
- The National Transit Institute
- Easter Seals
- Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA)
- Passenger Safety and Service (PASS)
- Association of Travel Instruction
Above all, MTM ensures that assessment and travel training staff are sensitive to, and able to respond positively to, all situations and build a rapport with clients, caring for their safety and success.
Travel Training Staff
Robyn Bernardy, Director of Travel Training
Robyn has worked in the disability field for 11 years. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from George Mason University, and has worked extensively with people with autism and cognitive disabilities. Robyn is a member of the Board of the Association of Travel Instruction (ATI).
Nathan Graeff, RTA Travel Training Manager
Nathan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy from The Pennsylvania State University and has worked in the rehabilitation and community reintegration field for five years. He is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and has experience working with people with cognitive disabilities, motor impairments, and neurological conditions.
Ashley Arquilla received her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy from Ohio University. Ashley has over 12 years of professional experience working with individuals of all ages with various disabilities and chronic illnesses. She has spent time working in community settings, at behavioral health hospitals, as a private caregiver, and at camps for people with disabilities.
Pamela joined MTM in 2014. She holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University, and has worked with ESL students, students with hearing impairments, teens, and older adults. She is a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Philomina Cox has over 16 years of experience working with various types of adults with disabilities. Her professional background includes working with individuals that have mobility/physical impairments, spinal cord injuries, psychological disorders, cognitive, and learning disabilities. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has taken graduate level classes for Social Work at Dominican University in River Forest.
Ally Dull has been a Travel Trainer with MTM since March of 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism with a concentration in Recreation Therapy from Radford University. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Ally has a broad range of experience, specializing in working with individuals with disabilities in community & outdoor settings.
Eduardo has worked at MTM for seven years, and has been travel training and conducting mobility assessments for four years. During this time, he has worked extensively with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.
Sabrina has spent much of her career in the educational arena, spending time as a classroom teacher and a librarian. She has also worked in a juvenile detention facility.
Jessica has worked with occupational and physical therapists for five years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and has since worked with veterans with cognitive and functional disabilities. She is also an officer in the United States Army.
Carina Kak received her J.D. from Indiana University and began serving as an Assistant Public Guardian in the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian in 2006. She worked with children who were in the foster care system and many had various cognitive and physical disabilities. Carina continued her work in special education law through pro bono work at Equip for Equality, Inc. In 2013, Carina earned a M.S. in higher education from Northwestern University, where she studied the Americans with Disabilities Act and the experiences of students with disabilities in post-secondary school.
Robert has worked as a Learning Behavior Specialist in the education field for nine years before coming on to the MTM team in 2016. He worked primarily in the field with individuals who had behavioral, cognitive, or mental health disabilities. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Bradley University in History/Secondary Education and his Learning Behavior Specialist certification from Lewis University.
Kelly is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist COMS) and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Ashland University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Sensory Impairments and Inclusion from The Ohio State University, anticipating graduation in August 2016.
Bianca obtained her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Northern Illinois University. She managed a micro-enterprise which employed individuals with autism and other cognitive disabilities as well as performed assessments.
Lorenzo Mendez received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has extensive experience working with troubled youth as a Behavioral Management Specialist. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Social Work, and plans on obtaining my LCSW.
Tabitha has worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 20 years, and received her Associate’s Degree in 1994. Her experience includes working with individuals with a variety of disabilities, which assists her in her current position assessing customers’ abilities to access transportation.
Lilly is a university-trained Orientation and Mobility Specialist, completing her training in 2003 at California State University, Los Angeles. She has more than 10 years of experience working as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist and Travel Trainer with individuals of all ages and abilities.
Charlene has worked in the healthcare industry for more 15 years, specializing in work with older adults, infants, and children. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in social work.
ADA Assessment Staff
Joanna is the Program Director for MTM’s Raleigh Capital Area Transit functional eligibility assessment program. Prior to this program, she served as mobility assessment evaluator for MTM’s TriMet operation, where she completed clinically based physical and cognitive assessments for paratransit applications.
Christopher Hunter, CTRS
Chris is the Program Director for MTM’s TriMet program in Portland, as well as the Director for our assessment programs across the nation. Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and has a robust background in travel training and assessments. Since 2002, he has been involved with Easter Seals Project Action (ESPA) and is currently a National Trainer for the Introduction to Travel Training course.
Sara Bohar has a master’s degree in Education from Grand Valley State University and an undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University. Her previous experiences include working with people with disabilities and managing programs and projects in several higher education environments.
Monique N. Caston, MSW, MSM has been a Program Director with MTM since March 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Howard University, and a second Master’s of Science Degree in Management from the University of Maryland University College. Monique has over 10 years of professional experience working with the federal, private, and nonprofit sectors providing strategic program management and oversight.
Michelle Groves has been the ADA Site Manager in Chicago since July of 2016. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Illinois State University. Michelle has over 14 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and ADA Paratransit services in Chicago. Michelle is also fluent in Spanish.
Breanne is a graduate of Oregon State University and a licensed Emergency Medical Technician. In addition to her formal education, Breanne attributes her ability to perform high-quality mobility and cognitive functional assessments to skills gained from many years in the field as an EMT and in the classroom as a special education teacher.
Scott holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Science and a Master’s of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. He has worked in physical therapy settings, conducting treatments and exercise programs for patients. He uses his extensive knowledge of the human body to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology at National American University.
Sherri Tabron has been a Mobility Assessment Evaluator with MTM since November of 2015. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Organization and Public Speaking from Ashford University and now in the Master’s Program at Ashford University. Sherri has experience and worked in the fields of medical coding and billing, mediation and conflict resolution, community organizing events, customer service & management.
Prior to joining MTM as a Project Director, Veronica was the Accreditation Manager and Facility Supervisor for Jackson County, Missouri for nine years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, and taught middle school Language Arts for nine years. She is a lifelong member of Beta Theta Chapter Phi Alpha Honor Society.
